The Leveraging Centre is managed by Department of Innovation, of Industry and Commerce of the Xunta de Galicia and supported by the Galicia Supercomputing Centre.
The Galicia e-Commerce Leveraging Centre activities are divided in six areas, performing different but complementary functions. These are the areas and its objectives:
Observatory: The Galicia e-Commerce Leveraging Centre Observatory assesses the current regional economy and e-economy in order to discover local specificities, strong and weak points, and local priorities with special attention to SMEs.
Education and Training: This module provides training courses about the Internet, e-commerce and e-business to entrepreneurs and SMEs. Seminars, workshops, conferences and courses are the main activities.
Helpdesk: The activities of this module are the development of a service where SMEs can have support and advice, in order to improve their business processes using ITC tools and e-commerce. This module is also responsible for providing information, orientation, assistance and advisory services that cover the complete e-business cycle.
Communication and Promotion: This area is responsible for the intensive communication and dissemination actions with regards to the content and results of the activities of the above mentioned modules. Awareness on e-business and the Internet between the regional SMEs is a complementary task of the communication area. A magazine, a website (www.e-negociogalicia.com) and publications in mass media are the main actions of this module.
Research and Innovation: With the templates and guidelines derived from the Observatory, the aim of this area is to contribute to overcoming e-business adoption barriers in SMEs.
External cooperation: This area identifies regional, national and international organizations (Competence Centres, Professional Associations, Research Centres and other special institutions) for the creation of a network involving key stakeholders in the area of innovation support for SMEs.
